About
Doheny State Beach Group Campground provides a single premium group campsite at the southern end of one of California's most iconic coastal parks. Once owned by oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny, this beach property was donated for public use in 1931, making it California's first state beach. The group site is tent-only and accommodates between 9 and 40 campers with space for 10 vehicles included in the reservation. The campsite includes a fire ring with grate for campfires and cooking, a picnic table, and access to flush restrooms with hot showers. Potable water is available throughout the campground. While the main campground offers a dump station for RVs, the group site itself is designated for tent camping only with no hookups. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and contained in a vehicle or tent overnight; pets are not permitted on the beach. The park spans day-use areas and camping facilities along the Dana Point coast. At the northern end, visitors find world-renowned surf breaks, sand volleyball courts, and the Doho Cafe. The campground provides stunning ocean views with some sites just a short walk from the water. Beach wheelchairs are available for checkout. Park hours are 6 AM to 10 PM daily year-round.
Directions
