About

Doheny State Beach Campground is located at the southern end of Dana Point Harbor in Orange County, occupying what was once the private estate of oil magnate Edward L. Doheny before becoming California's first state beach in 1931. The campground features 121 sites split between the North Loop and South Loop, with premium beachfront sites 37-94 positioned roughly ten feet from the Pacific Ocean. This is a dry campground with no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites, though a dump station is available for RV waste disposal at $10 per use. Amenities include flush restrooms, hot showers, potable drinking water, and fire rings and picnic tables at every site. Four ADA-accessible campsites are designated at sites 16, 27, 91, and 117. The park spans a 62-acre stretch of beach and provides excellent access to surfing, swimming, tide pools, and kayaking. Day-use facilities include a 5-acre picnic area, volleyball courts, and a visitor center with a tide pool exhibit. Dogs are allowed in the campground on leash but prohibited on the beach and in the water.
