Salt Rock Campground

About

Salt Rock State Campground is a 149-acre Connecticut DEEP facility along the Shetucket River in the town of Sprague. It holds the distinction of being the only state campground in Connecticut offering full hookup sites for RVs. The campground features over one mile of heavily wooded riverfront, providing a scenic backdrop for camping and easy access to water recreation. The campground has 57 total sites divided among several categories: 22 standard electric sites (with sites 1-7 upgraded to 50-amp service), 20 non-electric sites, 13 tent-only sites, and 2 group camping areas accommodating up to 25 campers. Thirteen sites feature full hookups with water, electric, and sewer connections. All standard sites include fire pits and picnic tables, with a six-person maximum capacity. On-site amenities include flush restrooms with hot showers, a free dump station for registered campers, potable water taps, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, play field, and playground. Firewood and ice are sold on-site. The swimming pools are permanently closed as of 2024. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica up to 11 months in advance, with a 14-day maximum consecutive stay followed by a mandatory 5-day absence.

Located at 173 Scotland Road (Route 97) in Baltic/Sprague, Connecticut. From I-395, take exit 83 and head west on Route 97 toward Baltic. The campground entrance is approximately 2 miles on the right.
