About
Roberts Tract Campground and Trailhead is a specialized equestrian facility nestled in the Pine Ridge area of Nebraska National Forest. This small, primitive campground caters primarily to horseback riders exploring the Pine Ridge National Recreation Area's 6,600 acres of non-motorized trails. The facility provides three tent camping sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. An additional site with table and fire ring is located in the parking area for visitors with horse trailers or campers. The campground's main attraction for equestrians is its eight-paddock corral system, fully accessible rider ramp, and stock water availability (weather permitting). Certified weed-free hay is required for all stock. Roberts Loop Trail begins at the campground and provides access to an extensive trail network. From the trailhead, riders and hikers can reach the Pine Ridge National Recreation Area (0.5 miles), Pine Ridge Trail (2 miles), Coffee Mill Trailhead (8.2 miles), and East Ash Trailhead (10.1 miles). The recreation area is designated for non-motorized use only, offering excellent opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding through the unique Pine Ridge landscape.
