About
River Right Campground offers a peaceful tent camping experience along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River in Warren County, Virginia. The 12 walk-in sites are arranged to provide a more secluded, primitive atmosphere while still offering convenient amenities. Campers can access sites by walking from the parking area or paddling in via the river, making it popular with canoeists and kayakers exploring the 5.6 miles of river frontage within the park. The campground provides essential amenities including a full-service bathhouse with hot showers, two vault toilets with potable water nearby, and gray water sinks. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire ring. Parking accommodates up to 21 vehicles, and supply wagons are available to help transport gear to sites. The campground also includes the Cottonwood Primitive Group Camp Site, which accommodates up to 30 people and requires advance reservations. The broader Shenandoah River State Park spans 1,604 acres and offers over 24 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The visitor center, located about 3.2 miles from the campground, sells snacks and park merchandise. The park is situated 8 miles south of Front Royal and 15 miles north of Luray, providing easy access to the Shenandoah Valley region.
