River Right Campground at Raymond R. Andy Guest Jr. Shenandoah River State Park is a primitive walk-in campground offering 12 tent-only sites along the scenic South Fork of the Shenandoah River. The campground is designed for canoe-in or walk-in access, with some sites located less than 50 yards from the parking area. Each site is reserved by site number and comes equipped with a picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire ring. The campground provides modern amenities including a full-service bathhouse with hot showers, potable water available near the two vault toilets, and gray water sinks located near the bathhouse and vault toilets. Two river-access points provide easy access to the Shenandoah River for wading, floating, and fishing. Parking accommodates up to 21 vehicles, and wagons are provided to help campers transport supplies to their sites. The campground also features two yurts (Yurt 1 and Yurt 2) that share parking with the tent sites. The park encompasses over 1,600 acres with 5.2 miles of river frontage, offering scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. With more than 25 miles of trails open for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, visitors have numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. The park is located in Warren County, 8 miles south of Front Royal and 15 miles north of Luray, making it easily accessible from Northern Virginia, Richmond, and other major population centers.

Directions

The park is in Warren County, 8 miles south of Front Royal and 15 miles north of Luray, off Route 340 in Bentonville. From Northern Virginia, take I-66 West to exit 13 (Linden), turn left off the ramp, go one block to a stoplight and turn right onto Route 55 West. At the fifth stoplight, turn left onto 340 South. Drive eight miles; the park entrance is on the right.
