About

Hazard Mill Canoe Camp formerly served as a primitive camping spot for canoeists and kayakers navigating the South Fork Shenandoah River between Bentonville and Front Royal in Warren County, Virginia. Located within the George Washington National Forest, it provided basic river access for paddlers exploring this popular waterway. The site has been officially decommissioned by the U.S. Forest Service. It was never a developed campground with amenities; no drinking water, restrooms, or other facilities were provided. The site has also been withdrawn from the Virginia Bird & Wildlife Trail. Paddlers seeking canoe camping in this area should consider nearby alternatives such as Shenandoah River State Park, which offers designated canoe-in campsites along the river.
