About
Campbell Creek Campground sits at an elevation of 7,920 feet in a remote area at the western end of the Laramie Mountains on the Douglas Ranger District. The campground features 6 sites (5 single and 1 double) under mature pine trees with Campbell Creek gurgling through the middle, providing a peaceful atmosphere. Sites are widely spaced apart for privacy and include picnic tables, fire rings, and pedestal grills. The thick forest canopy offers shade and coolness during summer months.
The campground provides access to numerous trails including Twin Peaks Trail, Deer Creek Trail, and Elkhorn Trail for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV use. Campbell Creek offers opportunities to see deer, elk, marmots, beaver, owls, and bats. The scenic drive to the campground passes through LaPrele Canyon, crossing LaPrele Creek multiple times.
Nearby attractions include the historic LaPrele Guard Station and Little Medicine Falls. This small, cozy campground is possibly the most peaceful and popular on the Douglas Ranger District, providing some of the only Forest Service recreation land on the west side of the North Laramie Range.
