Outlet At Priest Lake is a Forest Service campground on the southwest shore of Priest Lake, one of the largest and most scenic lakes in the Idaho Panhandle. At 2,500 feet elevation, the campground offers views of the rugged Selkirk Mountains and direct lake access. The 27-site campground is organized into three loops: two upper sections with lake views and one lower lakeside section. All roadways and parking spurs are fully paved, accommodating everything from small tent campers to larger RVs with boat trailers. Recreation centers on the lake. Visitors enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and power boating, including trips up the 2.5-mile Thorofare to the Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area, which is inaccessible by road. Fishing is excellent; the world's largest Mackinaw trout was caught here in 1963. Beach Trail #48 runs through the campground and extends 8 miles along the shoreline. Motorized trail access includes the Peewee, Steep Creek, and John Wayne trails. Wildlife viewing opportunities include moose, black bear, wolves, deer, elk, and eagles. Amenities include flush toilets, potable water from hydrants, picnic tables, and bear-proof garbage cans. The nearest dump station is 5 miles north at Upper Luby Bay. A food storage order is in effect requiring proper storage of all food and scented items.

Directions

From I-90, take Highway 41 north to Newport, WA. Take Highway 2 east to Priest River. At the junction of Highway 57 and Highway 2, turn left. Drive 26 miles to Outlet Bay Road. Turn right for approximately 0.5 mile. Turn left on Lake Shore Road. Proceed 0.5 mile to Outlet Campground on the right.
