About

Ranger Creek Campground is situated in a remote area of Bighorn National Forest at 7,700 feet elevation, near the historic Big Goose Ranger Station constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The campground provides a quiet, lightly-used setting for campers seeking a more secluded experience in the forest. The facility offers 11 first-come, first-served campsites with spur lengths ranging from 20 to 70 feet, accommodating a variety of camping setups. During the operating season, campers have access to vault toilets and drinking water via a hand pump. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. The campground is located off Red Grade/Big Goose Road (Forest System Road 26) and serves as a base for exploring the surrounding national forest. During the off-season, the campground remains open to self-supported camping as long as weather permits, though no services such as trash collection, water, or cleaning are provided. The area offers stream fishing opportunities and access to the surrounding Bighorn National Forest backcountry.
