About

Cross Creek Campground occupies a scenic position on the southern shore of Park Reservoir in Wyoming's Bighorn National Forest. The campground serves as a launching point for exploring the Cloud Peak Wilderness, with trailhead access nearby. Park Reservoir and the surrounding area offer excellent fishing for trout, and numerous smaller lakes dot the high country beyond. This is a primitive, rustic campground suited for tent camping and smaller camping vehicles. The final two miles of Forest Road 293 require a high-clearance vehicle, making it unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. The remote setting and challenging access contribute to a quieter camping experience despite the area's heavy use by anglers and wilderness hikers. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available. A 14-day stay limit applies. Winter access to the area is maintained for snowmobile use, though camping facilities are seasonal.

Directions

From Sheridan, WY, take WY 332 south about 4 miles, then south on WY 335 about 8 miles. Road becomes Forest Road 26; travel another 11 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 293 and go about 4 miles to the campground. The last 2 miles require a high-clearance vehicle.
