Ramsey Lake State Recreation Area sits on nearly 2,000 acres of rolling wooded terrain in Fayette County, centered around a scenic lake popular for fishing and boating. The park offers multiple camping options to suit different preferences. White Oak Campground provides 90 sites with electrical hookups, modern flush toilets, hot showers, and a sanitary dump station. For a more rustic experience, Hickory Grove Campground offers 45 primitive sites nestled in dense woodland with vault toilets, fire pads, and picnic tables. An additional 24 sites with electricity accommodate organized groups. Equestrian campers have dedicated primitive sites with horse trailer access. The park features extensive trail systems for hiking, horseback riding, and seasonal snowmobiling. Fishing opportunities include largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish, with a wheelchair-accessible fishing dock near the boat launch. Reservations can be made through the ExploreMoreIL system up to three days before arrival. Campers may stay a maximum of 14 nights within any 30-day period. The park is located just northwest of the town of Ramsey, easily accessible from Interstate 70.

Located just northwest of Ramsey in Fayette County, Illinois. From Interstate 70, take the Ramsey exit and follow signs north to Ramsey Lake Road.
