This is a day-use area only, not a campground. Open daily 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. No overnight camping is permitted. For overnight stays, use the adjacent Boulder Campground.

About

Boulder Day Use Area is situated on the eastern shore of Carlyle Lake, approximately 50 miles east of St. Louis. The 26,000-acre lake is one of the nation's top ten inland sailing lakes and hosts various races and regattas throughout the year. This is a day-use only facility, not a campground. Amenities include a marina, boat ramp, fish cleaning station, one reservable group picnic shelter accommodating up to 75 people, a playground, flush toilets, and drinking water. The area offers excellent fishing opportunities for bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, largemouth bass, and walleye. For overnight accommodations, campers should book at the adjacent Boulder Campground, which offers 82 campsites with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings.

Directions

From I-57, take Old U.S. Highway 50 west. Continue for 19 miles through Salem, Odin, and Sandoval. Turn north on Boulder Road and follow 7 miles to the day use area. Address: 25501 Boulder Access Rd, Shattuc, IL 62231.
