About

Tioga State Forest encompasses 161,890 acres in Bradford and Tioga counties in north-central Pennsylvania, offering a wide range of camping experiences from roadside vehicle camping to remote backcountry adventures. The forest is home to the Pine Creek Gorge, often called the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, and features awe-inspiring views and miles of clean, cool streams. Camping options include designated roadside campsites along forest roads suitable for tents, small RVs, and trailers; trailside campsites along the Pine Creek Rail Trail at Darling Run, Hoffman Farm, and Tiadaghton areas; roadside hike-in sites for more solitude; equestrian campsites at Left Straight; and rustic campground settings at Asaph and County Bridge. All designated sites require reservations through the Pennsylvania State Parks system. Primitive backpack camping is permitted throughout most of the forest without a permit for single-night stays, though permits are always required in the Pine Creek Gorge area. The West Rim Trail and Mid State Trail offer exceptional backpacking opportunities. State forest campsites have no developed facilities, hookups, or trash service. Visitors must pack out all trash and practice Leave No Trace principles.
