Open

Open for camping from early May through the third Sunday in October. Family campsites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations; pay via honor envelope at the bulletin board upon arrival.

About

Colton Point State Park preserves 368 acres on the west rim of Pine Creek Gorge, a 1,000-foot deep chasm often called the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The park retains rustic charm from its Civilian Conservation Corps origins in the 1930s, with stone and timber structures blending into the forested landscape. The campground offers 19 tent sites in a primitive setting without hookups or modern facilities. Sites are first-come, first-served using an honor envelope system with cash or check payment. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring, with pit toilets and potable water available nearby. The campground is separate from the organized group tenting area. Pine Creek below is designated a Pennsylvania Scenic and Wild River, offering fishing and seasonal paddling. Multiple hiking trails depart from the park, connecting to thousands of acres in Tioga State Forest. The west rim overlooks provide dramatic views of the gorge, particularly during fall foliage.
