About
Poe Paddy State Park sits at the scenic confluence of Big Poe Creek and Penns Creek in Centre County, Pennsylvania. This rustic campground in the Seven Mountains region offers 38 sites including 17 rustic electric sites, 14 rustic non-electric sites, 5 Adirondack-style lean-to shelters, and a group tenting area. The park is known for exceptional trout fishing, particularly during the famous green drake mayfly hatch in early June. The campground operates seasonally from early April through mid-December. Amenities are basic by design: vault toilets and drinking water are available on-site, but showers and a dump station require a trip to nearby Poe Valley State Park. Some electric sites offer 50-amp service. Pets are permitted only on designated sites in Loop C. Access is exclusively via unpaved mountain roads, which are not maintained in winter. The Mid State Trail passes through the park, and paddlers can access Penns Creek directly. Site lengths vary from 15 to 40 feet, all back-in only. This is a destination for those seeking a quiet, remote camping experience rather than full-service amenities.
