About
Raymond B. Winter State Park encompasses 695 acres in the Ridge and Valley Province of central Pennsylvania, nestled within Bald Eagle State Forest. The park's focal point is Halfway Lake, fed by mountain springs and contained by a hand-laid native sandstone dam. The campground accommodates 61 sites suitable for tents, trailers, and motor homes, with most sites offering electric hookups. Site amenities include picnic tables, lantern holders, and fire rings, with each site varying slightly in elevation and scenery. The campground provides modern conveniences including shower facilities, drinking water, a sanitary dump station, and handwashing facilities. Three ADA-accessible camping cottages are available, each sleeping five people with electric heat, lights, and bunkbeds. The campground also features a playground and is located near the Halfway Run Environmental Learning Center. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities including swimming at Halfway Lake, fishing, hiking trails through oak and pine forests, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.
