Water begins to back up into smaller creeks such as Ransom, Black, Beeman, Gott, and Mud Creeks. Four Mile Creek State Park is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, just 20 minutes north of Niagara Falls. The campground offers 290 campsites, with 186 featuring electric hookups. Ten waterfront electric sites provide spectacular panoramic views of Lake Ontario. The park also offers yurt rentals, which are wood lattice framed structures with insulated fabric sides, three bunk beds with mattresses, and heat/AC units, refrigerators, and microwaves. The park features modern amenities including hot showers, a camp store, on-site laundry facilities, and a centrally located playground. A nature trail winds through densely wooded bluffs, where visitors can spot great blue herons, white-tailed deer, white trillium, and greenbrier in the marsh at the mouth of Four Mile Creek. Recreational activities include fishing in Lake Ontario and weekend interpretive programs. The location provides convenient access to major attractions including Niagara Falls State Park, the Maid of the Mist boat ride, Cave of the Winds, Old Fort Niagara, Wilson-Tuscarora State Park, and Fort Niagara State Park. The historic village of Lewiston offers jazz festivals, art festivals, concerts at Artpark, theater, dining, and Whirlpool Jet Boat rides. Camping permits allow free parking at all area state parks.
