About

Housatonic Meadows State Park campground sits along one of the most scenic stretches of the Housatonic River in Connecticut's Northwest Hills. The 61 campsites are positioned under a canopy of tall pines, with many sites offering direct river frontage. Each wooded site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grate. The campground also offers four rustic cabins available on weekends with a two-night minimum stay. The park encompasses 452 acres and is renowned for its fly fishing. A two-mile stretch of the Housatonic River within the park is designated catch-and-release, fly fishing only for trout and bass. Beyond fishing, visitors can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, tubing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The campground provides modern amenities including bathhouses with hot showers, potable water, dishwashing facilities, and a dump station. Note that pets and alcohol are prohibited at this campground. The maximum equipment length is 35 feet, and all sites are back-in only with no hookups available. Firewood is sold on-site, but out-of-state firewood is not permitted.
