About

Providence Canyon State Park, known as Georgia's Little Grand Canyon, provides primitive camping opportunities amid dramatic geological formations carved by erosion. The park features three pioneer campsites designed for groups up to 30 people, located just a quarter-mile from the parking lot. Each pioneer site includes a 12x16 foot open shelter with two picnic tables, a fire pit, and grill. Restroom facilities are available at pioneer site #3. For a more remote experience, six backcountry campsites are accessible via a 2-3 mile hike along the Red Blaze Trail. These primitive sites feature pre-constructed fire rings but require campers to pack in all water, food, and supplies. Backcountry campers must arrive before the park gate closes and before dark. No hookups, potable water, or shower facilities exist within the park. Campers seeking hot showers can visit nearby Florence Marina State Park, located 15 minutes away. The park's canyon walls feature brilliant orange, red, and white sediments making it a popular destination for hiking, photography, and geology programs.
