About
Hatchechubbee Creek Park is situated on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, also known as Lake Eufaula, which stretches 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground provides a convenient base for anglers pursuing largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream along the lake's 640 miles of shoreline. A boat ramp is located on-site for easy lake access.
The park offers flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and a group shelter. Campsites include tables and are surrounded by dense stands of mixed hardwood forests. While there is no designated swimming area, visitors can swim at their own risk. The surrounding forests offer opportunities for hiking, hunting, and wildlife observation, with commonly seen species including waterfowl, deer, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, hawks, and bobcats.
The historic town of Eufaula, Alabama is nearby, featuring more than 20 structures and districts on the National Register of Historic Places, including beautiful antebellum mansions. The park is unstaffed and prohibits alcoholic beverages, off-road vehicles, and inflatable play structures.
