About
Pringle Falls Campground is a quiet, primitive campground situated along the Wild and Scenic Deschutes River in central Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. Located just north of the Pringle Falls Experimental Forest, the campground provides direct river access beneath a canopy of mixed conifers. The area sees light use, making it a peaceful retreat for those seeking solitude. This stretch of the Deschutes River offers opportunities for fishing and paddling. Boat fishing or drift fishing is the most effective method, as the water is Class II flatwater for roughly 6 miles downstream before reaching dangerous falls. Motorized boats are prohibited on the river. The campground has 7 standard nonelectric sites, each with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Nearby attractions include the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, and Lava River Cave.
Directions
From Bend, OR: Travel about 27 miles south on Highway 97, then 7 miles west on County Road 43. The campground entrance is signed on the north side of the road.
