About

Bull Bend Campground occupies a unique peninsula almost entirely encircled by the Deschutes River in central Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. Located downstream from Wickiup Dam, the campground is a favorite destination for anglers seeking trout in the productive waters of the upper Deschutes. Fishing is best done from the banks or via drift boat, as motorized boating is prohibited in this stretch. The campground offers 12 standard non-electric sites large enough for RVs or trailers up to 40 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The gravel access road is manageable but warrants slower speeds for larger rigs. Nearby attractions include the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway and Newberry National Volcanic Monument with its Lava Lands Visitor Center and Lava River Cave. The campground provides easy access to wilderness areas, high lakes, and hundreds of miles of hiking trails in the surrounding forest.

Directions

From Bend, OR: Travel 26.8 miles south on Highway 97 to Wickiup Junction, then 10.5 miles west on County Road 43. Turn left on Forest Road 100 at the Bull Bend sign. Travel east about 1.5 miles until the road dead ends, make a left, then in about a quarter mile turn right into the campground.
