River Bend Campground at Powhatan State Park provides 29 full-service campsites designed for tents, pop-ups, and RVs up to 60 feet in length. Each site features electric hookups with 20/30/50 amp service, water hookups, fire rings with grills, picnic tables, and lantern holders. Sites accommodate up to two camping units with one axled unit maximum, and include tent pads measuring 25' by 35'. The campground offers a modern bathhouse with hot showers and restrooms, plus laundry facilities for camper convenience. Located within the 1,565-acre Powhatan State Park on the James River, campers have access to 12 miles of multi-use trails through diverse habitats including upland pine forests and mature hardwoods. The park features three car-top boat slides for river access, offering a 2-mile flat-water paddle between launches. Site 13 is paved, ADA-accessible, and closest to the bathhouse. The campground is situated in an upland wooded area without river views. A dump station is available on-site.

Directions

From Richmond, take I-64 west to exit 167 for VA-617 toward Oilville/Goochland. Turn left onto State Rte 617/Oilville Rd., then right onto US-250W for 0.8 miles. Turn left onto State Rte 632 Fairgrounds Rd. for 3 miles, then left onto State Rte 634 Maidens Rd. Continue straight at the stoplight onto Route 522 (Maidens Rd.) for 1.9 miles to Route 617 west (Old River Trail). Turn right and go 1.5 miles to the park entrance on the right.
