About
Located in northwest Powhatan County along the historic James River, this group campground at Powhatan State Park provides a dedicated space for organized groups seeking tent camping. The facility features four tent-only sites that can accommodate up to 24 campers combined, making it ideal for scout troops, clubs, and extended family gatherings. The group area includes a restroom without running water and two water spigots for potable water access. While the immediate campground area has basic facilities, campers can access full bathhouse amenities including showers at the nearby River Bend Campground, located roughly half a mile away. The park itself offers multi-use trails, wildlife observation areas, picnic shelters, and a playground, with all-terrain wheelchairs available for trail accessibility.
