About

Potosi Campground sits at 6,200 feet elevation on the east side of the Tobacco Root Mountains within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. South Willow Creek runs through the center of the campground, providing a scenic creekside setting. The campground offers 15 designated campsites along with a separate picnic day-use area for those not staying overnight. This is a primitive, no-fee campground managed by the Madison Ranger District. There is no reservation system; all sites are first-come, first-served. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no garbage service, so campers must pack out everything they bring in. Note that drinking water is not currently available at this site. Access is limited to smaller rigs, with trailer length recommended not to exceed 22 feet. There is no cell phone coverage in the area. The campground is a good base for exploring the Tobacco Root Mountains, with South Willow Creek offering opportunities for fishing and relaxation.
