About
Branham Lakes Campground is one of the highest drive-to destinations in Southwest Montana, sitting at 8,800 feet in the Tobacco Root Mountains. The six lakeside campsites offer solitude and stunning alpine scenery, surrounded by meadows and mountain views. Amenities are limited to vault toilets (ADA accessible) and a boat launch; there is no potable water or garbage service on site. The campground is reached via Mill Creek Road, approximately 13 miles east of Sheridan. The dirt road is rocky in places and not suitable for low-profile vehicles or trailers. Non-motorized boating, fishing, swimming, and day hiking are popular activities. A mandatory food storage order is in effect from March through December due to bear activity. Due to the high elevation, the campground typically opens in early July and closes in late September, weather dependent. Camping is limited to 16 days within any 30-day period.
Directions
From Sheridan, go east on Mill Creek Road for about 13 miles. The road is rocky dirt and not recommended for trailers or low-clearance vehicles.
