Located just 20 miles from Richmond, Pocahontas State Park's main campground provides convenient year-round access to one of Virginia's most popular outdoor recreation destinations. The campground offers 111 electric and water hookup sites that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, with 20-amp and 30-amp service standard on all sites and 50-amp service available on sites 66-129. Five buddy sites are available for larger groups of up to 18 people. All sites include picnic tables, grills, fire rings, and lantern holders. The campground features centrally located bathhouses with hot showers and a 24-hour laundry facility with three washers and dryers. A camp store operates seasonally offering souvenirs, toiletry items, and camping supplies. Firewood is available for purchase. Each site allows two vehicles plus the camping unit, with overflow parking available at the main office for additional vehicles. Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out at 1 p.m. Campers enjoy free access to the park's impressive Aquatic Recreation Center during summer months, as well as free boat launching on Swift Creek Lake. The park features over 90 miles of trails including 44 miles of directional mountain bike trails that are part of the IMBA bronze-level Richmond Regional Ride Center. Additional recreation includes fishing on three lakes, boat rentals, the CCC Museum, and seasonal nature programs. The park is open from 7 a.m. to dusk for general use.

Directions

From I-95 south of Richmond: Take exit 61 onto Route 10 west, then left onto Route 655 (Beach Road). Go about four miles to State Park Road, which is on the right. From I-95 north of Richmond: Take I-295 south to Route 10 west (Iron Bridge Road) to Route 655 (Beach Road) to State Park Road.
