About

Pocahontas Hunts Zone is one of several designated hunting areas within Pocahontas State Park, a 7,950-acre park located in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The park's hunting program offers managed hunt opportunities primarily during November and December each year, with reservations required in advance and a limited number of hunters per zone. Archery hunting is also available by permit only, typically from early October through early January. Approximately 2,500 acres of the park are open to permitted archery hunters on designated days (Monday through Friday only). Archery permits require a mandatory in-person safety briefing at the park office. Hunters utilizing this zone should be prepared for primitive conditions. The main developed campground at Pocahontas State Park offers year-round camping with electric and water hookups, but the hunting zones themselves may have limited or no amenities. Contact the park directly for specific information about overnight accommodations for hunters.
