Open year-round for camping. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and must be made at least 1 day ahead of arrival. A seasonal burn ban is in effect February 15 through April 30, prohibiting open fires from midnight to 4 p.m.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert across the Richmond Metro Area and the Hampton Roads Area...for Ground Level Ozone...from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children...people suffering from asthma... heart disease or other lung diseases...and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors. Pocahontas State Park is Virginia's largest state park, located just 20 miles from downtown Richmond in Chesterfield County. The campground offers 111 electric and water hookup sites spread across wooded loops, plus 5 buddy sites that accommodate larger groups of up to 18 people. Every site includes a steel fire ring for cooking and campfires, plus a picnic table. Sites 66-129 provide 50-amp electrical service for larger RVs. Modern amenities include centrally located bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets, all fully ADA accessible. A dump station is available for RV waste disposal. The campground features a 24-hour laundry facility with washers, dryers, soap, and change machines. A seasonal camp store offers souvenirs, toiletries, and basic camping supplies, with a snack bar operating during summer months. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including swimming (free for overnight guests), fishing, hiking, mountain biking on over 15 miles of trails, and interpretive programs. Pets are welcome with a $20 per night fee and must be kept on a 6-foot leash. The campground operates year-round with check-in at 4 p.m. and check-out at 1 p.m.

From I-95 south of Richmond: Take exit 61 onto Route 10 west, then left onto Route 655 (Beach Road). Go about four miles to State Park Road on the right. From I-95 north of Richmond: Take I-295 south to Route 10 west to Route 655 (Beach Road) to State Park Road.
