Pocahontas Campground sits within Virginia's largest state park at 7,919 acres, offering 111 campsites available year-round with electric and water hookups. Located just 20 miles from Richmond in Chesterfield County, the campground provides easy access to extensive recreational opportunities including over 90 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The park is part of the IMBA bronze-level Richmond Regional Ride Center with 44 miles of directional mountain biking trails. Each campsite accommodates RVs up to 40 feet (sites 66-129 offer 50-amp service), includes a picnic table, steel fire ring with cooking grate, and lantern holder. Tents must fit on 20' x 20' pads. Centrally located bathhouses feature hot showers and flush toilets. The campground also includes a 24-hour laundry facility and seasonal camp store. Five buddy sites accommodate groups up to 18 people. The park features three fishing lakes totaling 256 acres with boat rentals including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and paddle boats. The seasonal Aquatic Recreation Center offers multiple pools, water slides, and a snack bar. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, the park preserves this history through its CCC Museum. Additional amenities include picnic shelters, playgrounds, an equestrian center, and a 2,000-seat amphitheater hosting concerts and events.

From I-95 south of Richmond: Take exit 61 onto Route 10 west, then left onto Route 655 (Beach Road). Go about four miles to State Park Road on the right. From I-95 north of Richmond: Take I-295 south to Route 10 west to Route 655 (Beach Road) to State Park Road.
