About

Plaskett Meadows Campground is a secluded, high-elevation destination in the Mendocino National Forest, located 36 miles northwest of Elk Creek on Forest Highway 7. The campground rests in a scenic area of mixed pine and fir trees at roughly 6,000 feet elevation, offering a cool retreat during summer months. The primary draw is the pair of small trout fishing lakes adjacent to the campground, each spanning three to four acres. Non-motorized boats are permitted, making it ideal for float tubes, canoes, and kayaks. Swimming is not recommended due to water conditions. The surrounding forest provides opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing. The campground was extensively restored and reopened in June 2025 following damage from the 2020 August Complex fire and subsequent winter storms. New fire rings, barriers, and signage were installed during the restoration. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, with vault toilets and drinking water available throughout. The campground operates first-come, first-served; fees are $10 per night during the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) with free camping during the off-season.
