About

Plaskett Meadows Campground is located in the western portion of Mendocino National Forest, surrounded by mixed species of pine and fir at approximately 6,000 feet elevation. The campground features two small trout fishing lakes, each about three to four acres in size, where only non-motorized boats are permitted. Swimming is not recommended in these lakes. The campground was damaged in the 2020 August Complex fire and suffered additional damage during winter storms in subsequent years. Grindstone Ranger District staff completed extensive restoration work, and the campground reopened on June 27, 2025. Improvements included new fire rings, barriers, and signs throughout the facility. Plaskett Meadows operates as a first-come, first-served campground with recent implementation of scan and pay options through Recreation.gov, in addition to traditional cash and check payments. The remote location along Forest Highway 7 offers visitors a peaceful forest camping experience with opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating. Each campsite includes a fire ring and most have picnic tables.
