About
Atchison Campground is a small, undeveloped campground nestled within the Mendocino National Forest in Glenn County, California. This free campground offers a quiet retreat surrounded by mature oak and pine trees, providing ample shade and a natural setting. The campground features vault toilets, six fire rings, and ten picnic tables distributed across its few sites. No potable water is available at the campground itself. However, a stream with a spring pipe can be found 2.6 miles east along Forest Road 22N11. Campers should bring sufficient drinking water and be prepared to pack out all trash, as no trash pickup services are provided. The road accessing the campground sees limited traffic, making the area appealing for hiking and biking. The campground is not maintained during winter months and may be inaccessible due to snow or road conditions. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Visitors should avoid parking or pitching tents under dead standing trees and use caution in high winds, as hazard trees and unstable terrain may be present throughout the forest.
