About

Located on a tributary of the Clearwater River just three miles south of Seeley Lake, Placid Lake State Park encompasses 31 acres at the eastern end of Placid Lake at 4,134 feet elevation. The park is renowned for its smooth water conditions, excellent trout fishing, and family-friendly water recreation. The campground features 40 campsites, including 17 with electrical hookups, plus a specialized hike-bike site equipped with bicycle racks, fire rings, bear-resistant food lockers, a bicycle maintenance stand, and a covered shelter. The lake's calm waters make it ideal for boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, and swimming. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound in this scenic valley setting. Interpretive panels throughout the park tell the story of early-day logging practices, evidenced by massive western larch stumps still visible in the area. The park serves as an excellent base camp for exploring other recreational opportunities in the Clearwater/Swan River Valley. Amenities include a boat launch, flush toilets, vault toilets, hot showers, picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, potable water, and bear-resistant dumpsters.
