About
River Point Campground sits on the west shore of Seeley Lake in Montana's Lolo National Forest, positioned where the Clearwater River flows out of the lake. The campground features 27 RV and tent sites, with 5 sites offering direct riverfront access to the Clearwater River. Visitors are surrounded by old-growth Western Larch trees, many over 500 years old and several feet in diameter. The nearby Girard Grove is home to "Gus," a Western Larch tree over 1,000 years old and more than seven feet in diameter.
The campground offers a beachfront day-use area with a roped swimming beach just a short walk from the campsites, providing sweeping views of the eastern shoreline and surrounding peaks. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. A portion of the community trails network passes through the campground, providing non-motorized access to town and nearby forest lands. The campground is popular for swimming, fishing, paddling, and biking. There is no boat launch at this facility.
The Clearwater Canoe Trailhead just north of Seeley Lake offers 3.5 miles of excellent flatwater paddling for viewing wildlife such as blue herons, river otters, bald eagles, and osprey. The town of Seeley Lake, 3 miles southeast, provides groceries, gas, restaurants, and boat, canoe, and kayak rentals. Food storage orders are in place due to bear activity in the area.
Directions
From the town of Seeley Lake, travel 3 miles northwest on Boy Scout Road. From River Point Campground entry road, take the first left on the paved road to the camping area, proceed through the open single lane gate to the one-way traffic camping loop.
