Special Weather Statement issued May 22 at 1:43PM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI
The combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity values, and gusty east to southeast winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan the remainder of this afternoon. Sustained winds of 7 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be seen over northern Michigan this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 35 percent are expected over much of northern lower Michigan. These conditions could lead to rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. For more information on burning restrictions for Michigan, see www.dnr.state.mi.us//.

About
Orchard Beach State Park Campground sits atop dramatic 100-foot bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, renowned for its spectacular sunset views across the water. Located just three miles north of Manistee, the modern campground features 166 full hookup campsites shaded by mature oak and maple trees, with most sites offering generous space. The park provides 30- and 50-amp electrical service, two restroom and shower buildings, and a sanitation station. Beyond camping, visitors can explore over 3.5 miles of trails winding through old-growth forest and former farmland on the east side of the road. A historic 850-ton stone pavilion, relocated to protect it from bluff erosion, serves as a rentable event space accommodating up to 200 people. Beach access is available via stairs from the bluff, though conditions vary with water levels and erosion. A mini cabin sleeping four is also available for those seeking basic lodging without a tent or RV.
Directions
From US-31 in Manistee, take M-110 north for 1.5 miles. The park entrance is on the left (west) side of North Lakeshore Road.
