Pine Ridge Campground sits within Itasca State Park, Minnesota's oldest state park established in 1891, offering a classic north woods camping experience among mature red pine forests. The campground features approximately 155 campsites, with about 65 offering electric hookups suitable for modern RVs and trailers. Sites accommodate rigs up to 60 feet in length, making this a big rig-friendly destination. The campground's scenic location provides a peaceful wooded setting while maintaining convenient access to the park's main attractions. Campers at Pine Ridge enjoy direct connections to Itasca State Park's extensive paved bike trail system, making it easy to explore the park's more than 100 lakes and numerous landmarks. The campground is located just minutes from the Mississippi River headwaters, where visitors can walk across the mighty river at its source before it begins its 2,552-mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Itasca's swimming beaches, fishing opportunities, and the park's observation tower are all easily accessible from the campground. The campground provides modern restroom facilities with flush toilets, a playground for families, and a dump station. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. With wheelchair-accessible sites and well-maintained facilities, Pine Ridge Campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring one of Minnesota's premier state parks, offering activities ranging from hiking and biking to fishing and wildlife watching across more than 32,000 acres of protected wilderness.

Directions

From Park Rapids, head north on US-71 for approximately 20 miles to reach the south entrance of Itasca State Park. From Bemidji, travel south on US-71 for about 30 miles, then go north on State Hwy 200 for 0.1 miles to access the east entrance. The north entrance is accessible by traveling 21 miles south from Bagley on State Hwy 92/State Hwy 200.
