About
This entry contains incorrect data. The coordinates provided (47.238202, -95.270283) place this location in Clearwater County in northwest Minnesota, but Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is actually located in Rice County in southeast Minnesota, near the town of Nerstrand and about 11 miles southeast of Northfield. At the actual Nerstrand Big Woods State Park, the day-use facilities include two reservable picnic shelters, picnic areas with tables and grills, a playground, restrooms, and access to 13 miles of hiking trails through one of the last remaining stands of Big Woods maple-basswood forest. Hidden Falls is a popular trail destination. These day-use facilities do not offer overnight camping. The park does have a separate campground with 51 campsites, but that is a distinct facility from the day-use areas.
Directions
From I-35, take State Highway 19 east into Northfield. Go south on State Highway 3, east on State Highway 246, then turn right onto County Road 29.
