The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach the Purple or Very Unhealthy category. * WHERE...Northwest Minnesota * WHEN...Until 11 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Everyone will be affected by wildfire smoke in these concentrations. Minor trace amounts of ashfall are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Dense smoke will continue to spread westward across northern Minnesota along a quasi-stationary front. The smoke will persist until at least Friday, and this alert may need to be extended.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach the Red or Unhealthy category. * WHERE...East central, central, west central, southeast, north central, and northwest Minnesota. * WHEN...Until 11 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Some members of the general public may experience health effects. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, may experience health effects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very heavy smoke is expected across the Arrowhead today, as large wildfires continue to spread. Hot temperatures, when combined with the air pollution, will exacerbate health impacts. A frontal boundary will then spread heavy smoke further south this evening into Wednesday morning, as it moves across northern and central Minnesota. The onset of smoke will be rapid. This boundary eventually passes through the Twin Cities and into southeastern Minnesota on Wednesday or Wednesday evening, bringing heavy smoke even further south. Additional rounds of heavy smoke are possible from Thursday through Friday morning across the alert area.

The Four-Season Suites provide year-round lodging at Minnesota's oldest state park, home to the headwaters of the Mississippi River. The 12 contemporary two-room suites are housed in two six-plex buildings situated near the historic Douglas Lodge area. Each unit features a cozy living area, bedroom with queen beds, a kitchenette equipped with a dorm-style refrigerator, two-burner cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker, plus a full bathroom with tub/shower combination. Linens and towels are provided. Modern amenities include WiFi, cable TV, air conditioning in summer, and heat in winter. Each building has an outdoor courtesy phone and shared parking. Adjacent units can connect via interior and screen porch doors, making them suitable for larger groups or families traveling together. Itasca State Park spans over 32,000 acres and offers extensive recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The park is particularly popular for visiting the iconic headwaters where visitors can walk across the Mississippi River on stepping stones.
Directions
The Four-Season Suites are located within Itasca State Park, near Douglas Lodge. From Park Rapids, Minnesota, take U.S. Highway 71 north for approximately 21 miles to the park entrance. Follow park signs to Douglas Lodge; the suites are situated nearby.
