Bert's Cabins

Open — The cabins operate seasonally with most cabins open from mid-May through November. Select cabins with extended season availability remain open from fishing opener through the second weekend of deer rifle season. Reservations available through the Minnesota DNR.

Bert's Cabins at Itasca State Park offers 12 comfortable housekeeping cabins located on Wilderness Drive, just one mile from the Mississippi River headwaters. Originally established in 1939 as a family resort, these cabins were acquired by the Minnesota DNR in 2018 and continue to provide cozy lodging for park visitors. The cabins range from one to three bedrooms and feature air conditioning, full kitchens, updated bathrooms with showers, and classic knotty pine interiors. Selected cabins include additional amenities such as fireplaces, screened porches, decks, and pet-friendly accommodations. Set among towering pines on a paved bike trail, the cabins provide convenient access to Itasca State Park's extensive hiking and biking trails, fishing opportunities, and nature programs. The location balances peaceful seclusion with proximity to park attractions. WiFi is available at certain locations around the park. Cabins are available for daily or weekly rental through the Minnesota DNR reservation system.
