About

Hoeft State Park is one of Michigan's original 14 state parks, established in 1922 on land donated by lumber baron Paul H. Hoeft. This 340-acre park combines heavily wooded campsites with a mile of Lake Huron's sandy shoreline, offering both forest shade and beach access. The modern campground features 126 sites divided into east and west loops, each shaded by mature oaks, maples, hemlocks, and pines. Sites are generous in size and offer 20/30/50-amp electrical service, with several pull-through options for larger RVs. The park provides direct access to Lake Huron's beaches through two buoyed swim areas, one in the day-use area and another accessible from the campground. A 10-foot-wide paved trail connects to the Huron Sunrise Trail system, making the park ideal for cyclists. Four miles of internal trails wind through the woods, suitable for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The historic Sunrise Pavilion, constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938, offers stunning lake views and is available for group rentals. Located just 4.5 miles from Rogers City along scenic US-23, the park serves as an excellent base for exploring Michigan's Sunrise Coast. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, a sanitation station, and potable water. The campground also features a playground on accessible rubberized surface, sand volleyball courts, and seasonal naturalist programs during summer months.
