Jewell Lake Recreation Area Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates May 3 through October 31 and is gated when closed. A snowmobile trail runs through the area during winter months.

About

Jewell Lake Campground is located on the east shore of the 193-acre Jewell Lake in Alcona County within the Huron National Forest. The campground provides 32 campsites and serves as a base for water-based recreation including fishing for bluegill and rock bass, motorized and non-motorized boating, and swimming. The lake is popular with both novice and experienced anglers. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis from early May through late October. Sites are $15 per night, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders. Campers should be prepared to pay with cash or check. Basic amenities include vault toilets and picnic tables, though potable water is not available on-site. During winter months, a snowmobile trail runs through the recreation area. The campground is gated when closed for the season. Access is via M-72, Sanborn Road, and Forest Road 4601, approximately 14.5 miles west of Harrisville.

Directions

From Harrisville, travel west on M-72 for 14.5 miles. Turn right and travel north on Sanborn Road for 2 miles. Turn left and travel west on FR 4601 for 0.5 miles.
