People's Creek Recreation Area is located on Wappapello Lake in Wayne County, Missouri's southeastern Ozark foothills. The campground features 57 campsites divided between upper and lower sections along a scenic cove. The lower area contains 38 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups and is the only campground at Wappapello Lake with waterfront campsites. The upper area offers 19 full-service sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. The recreation area provides excellent water access with a two-lane boat ramp, courtesy dock, and swimming beach. An accessible fishing pier extends into the lake, and the Lake View Trail offers hiking opportunities. Wappapello Lake is known for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, white bass, and channel catfish. Hunting, fishing, and kayaking are popular year-round activities. Wappapello Lake spans 8,400 acres across 45,000 acres of public land with lightly wooded shorelines. Nearby attractions include Pine Ridge Nature Trail, Shell Lake Archery Trail, Mingo Wildlife Refuge (11.5 miles), Lake Wappapello State Park (18.2 miles), and Sam A. Baker State Park (33.4 miles).

From St. Louis: Take I-55 South to Highway 67. Head south to D Highway. Take D Highway South for about 15 miles and look for signs. From Poplar Bluff: Take Highway 60 East to Highway T. Then take Highway T North and look for signs.
