Eagle Point Recreation Area
Eagle Point is a day-use only area with no overnight camping. The reservable group shelter is available seasonally via Recreation.gov. Special use permits are required for gatherings over 50 people, weddings, and tournaments.

High temperatures reaching the lower 90s this afternoon will combine with high humidity values to produce heat index readings peaking in the 100 to 105 range. This will be the 3rd consecutive day with heat index readings exceeding 100 degrees in many locations. With this being the first heat wave of the season be particularly alert to heat related illness potential and take the necessary action to protect yourself.

About
Eagle Point Recreation Area is a day-use only facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the north end of Wappapello Dam. The park features a renovated accessible picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 80 guests, making it ideal for family reunions, group gatherings, and events. The site includes flush restrooms, a volleyball court, and a playground area. A highlight of Eagle Point is the scenic overlook platform extending from the bluff with panoramic views of Wappapello Lake. This location is popular for small wedding ceremonies, though a special use permit is required for weddings, gatherings over 50 people, and tournaments. The Lake View Trail provides access to hiking opportunities nearby. Important: Eagle Point is not a campground. Overnight camping is not permitted at this location. Visitors seeking camping at Wappapello Lake should consider other nearby recreation areas such as Peoples Creek, Redman Creek, or Spillway Recreation Area, all of which offer overnight camping facilities.
Directions
From St. Louis: Take I-55 south to Route 67, then go south on 67 to Highway D. Take Highway D south for 20 miles to the intersection of D and T. Look for signs. From Poplar Bluff: Take Route 60 east to Route T. Take Route T north for 22 miles and look for signs.
