About

Peninsula State Park is Wisconsin's most popular camping destination, offering over 460 campsites spread across five distinct campgrounds in Door County. The park features North Nicolet Bay with 44 non-electric sites near the beach, South Nicolet Bay with 143 sites including 54 with electricity, Tennison Bay with 188 sites including 97 electric sites, Weborg Point with 12 electric sites, and Welcker's Point with 81 non-electric sites. All sites are reservable, and campground hosts are stationed throughout the park. Modern amenities include hot water showers, flush toilets, and accessible facilities designed for visitors with disabilities. The park is considered Wisconsin's most complete state park, featuring a sand swimming beach at Nicolet Bay with volleyball courts, playground equipment, and a camp store. Visitors can rent boats and bikes at Nicolet Beach, launch canoes and kayaks at Tennison Bay, or fish from accessible piers. The park offers over 20 miles of biking trails, nearly 30 miles of groomed ski trails for winter use, and an 18-hole golf course. Additional attractions include Eagle Tower for panoramic views (open seasonally May through October), a historic lighthouse, and eight miles of scenic Door County shoreline along Green Bay. Tennison Bay campground remains open year-round for winter camping enthusiasts, with electric hookups available and water accessible at the well house on the main road. The dump station operates May through October and is closed seasonally November through April. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and are strongly recommended, as sites fill quickly during peak summer and fall seasons.
