About
Panchuela West Cabin is a rustic Forest Service cabin situated in the Santa Fe National Forest at the edge of the Pecos Wilderness. Unlike some national forest cabins that are available for public rental through Recreation.gov, this cabin is designated for administrative use by Forest Service volunteers and employees working in the Pecos Wilderness Area. The Santa Fe National Forest explicitly states that they do not currently have cabins available for public rental. Visitors seeking overnight accommodations in this scenic high-elevation area should consider Panchuela Campground, located nearby at over 8,300 feet elevation. That campground offers six walk-in sites, including three with three-sided shelters featuring fireplaces and picnic tables, available through Recreation.gov with a minimum 4-day advance reservation requirement.
Directions
22 miles north of Pecos via NM 63 and Forest Roads 555 and 305.
