About
One of Florida's first state parks, O'Leno State Park Campground sits beneath a shaded canopy of longleaf pine, slash pine, and hardwoods along the banks of the Santa Fe River. The park features two camping loops, Magnolia and Dogwood, with a total of 61 campsites. Originally developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the campground maintains its historic character while providing modern conveniences. Each campsite includes water, electric hookups (varying between 30 and 50 amp), in-ground grill, and picnic table. Centrally located bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers serve each loop. Magnolia loop features a playground for registered campers, and a dump station is conveniently located off the main park drive. The maximum RV length is 50 feet, though campers should note the campground roads are compact and narrow in nature. The park's location along the Santa Fe River provides unique recreational opportunities. The river famously disappears underground and reemerges over three miles away at River Rise Preserve State Park. Campers can explore over 11 miles of multiuse trails for hiking and biking within O'Leno, with connections to an additional 35 miles at neighboring River Rise Preserve. The park offers river access for canoeing and kayaking upstream, a swimming area during warmer months, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities including deer, turkey, and numerous bird species. A historic suspension bridge built by the CCC and a small museum dedicated to the Civilian Conservation Corps add historical interest to any visit.
