About
Oak Grove Campground is located along the shores of DeQueen Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Rolling Fork River in southwest Arkansas. Completed in 1977 for flood control and water supply, the lake now offers 32 miles of shoreline and 8,700 acres of rolling landscape for recreation. The campground features 36 spacious electric campsites with modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water, plus two reservable group picnic shelters. Boating and water sports are primary activities, with boat ramps provided for campers. Fishing is excellent for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, black and white crappie, channel and flathead catfish, various sunfish species, and hybrid striped bass stocked by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Designated swimming areas provide family-friendly beach access. Hunting opportunities abound on project lands away from developed areas, with species including white-tailed deer, turkey, quail, dove, squirrels, and rabbits. While no designated hiking trails exist, the extensive public lands welcome hikers throughout the area. Sites are not waterfront but most have pavilions providing shade. Campers should bring extra water hoses and electric cords for longer hookup distances. The area has potential for flooding throughout the year, so checking lake levels before arrival is advised. The nearby town of DeQueen offers gas, groceries, and medical services three miles south on Highway 71.
Directions
From DeQueen, take Highway 71 north for 3 miles. Turn west onto DeQueen Lake Road and continue for 5.3 miles, following signs into the campground.
