About

Little Coon Creek Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground situated on Gillham Lake in the rugged Ouachita Mountains of southwestern Arkansas. The park features 10 campsites, each equipped with water and 50-amp electric hookups, making it suitable for RVs and trailers. Modern amenities include hot showers, flush restrooms, and a nearby dump station. The campground also offers a group picnic shelter, playground, and a boat ramp with a handicap accessible fishing pier. Gillham Lake spans 1,370 surface acres with 36 miles of shoreline along the Cossatot River, which is designated as a National Wild and Scenic River. The lake is known for its excellent fishing, with anglers targeting smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass, saugeye, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, and various sunfish species. Fly fishing is particularly popular. Boaters will appreciate the easy water access via the boat ramp, and hunters can pursue game north of Little Coon Creek Park and on the lake's eastern shore. The rugged terrain creates stunning views and provides a peaceful setting for camping. Campers must register with the Big Coon Creek Park Attendant before staying. Nearby attractions include Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area and Queen Wilhelmina State Park, both offering hiking, scenery, and interpretive programs. The campground operates first-come, first-served with a maximum of 2 tents and 8 occupants per site.
