About

Big Coon Creek Campground is located on the lush shores of Gillham Lake in southwest Arkansas, a 1,370-acre reservoir formed by the Cossatot River, which is designated as a National Wild and Scenic River. The campground provides 32 sites, each equipped with water hookups, 50-amp electric service, a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Paved driveways accommodate RVs and trailers up to 50 feet in length. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, drinking water, and trash collection. A playground provides family recreation, while the swimming beach and boat ramp offer direct access to Gillham Lake. Anglers can pursue smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass, saugeye, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, and various sunfish species. The river below the dam can be canoed for approximately 16 miles to U.S. Highway 71 South, with intermediate access at Mize Crossing and Ladd Bridge. The campground is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and ATVs/UTVs are not permitted. Life jackets are required for water activities.
