About

Oak Bottom Campground is located on a gently sloping hillside in the expansive Six Rivers National Forest in northwest California. The campground loops around a forested hillside of mixed Douglas fir and hardwood forest at 700 feet elevation, with large deciduous trees providing ample shade across multiple sites. The campground features 25 single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-resistant food storage locker. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided, along with bear-proof bins for garbage and recycling. There are no hookups. Maximum trailer length is 35 feet. Located near California's Salmon River, the campground is popular with whitewater enthusiasts in spring when challenging Class 3-5 rapids are running. Oak Bottom River Access directly across from the campground provides Salmon River access. Swimming is popular in summer, and fall brings excellent salmon and steelhead fishing on the nearby Klamath River. The small town of Somes Bar is 2.5 miles away with a general store offering propane, groceries, and tackle.
