About

Oak Bottom Campground is located on a gently sloping hillside in Klamath National Forest, set within a mixed Douglas fir and hardwood forest at 700 feet elevation. The campground provides a peaceful camping environment away from road noise, positioned near the confluence of the Salmon and Klamath Rivers. The 26 single-family campsites are shaded by large deciduous trees and equipped with tables and grills. The campground offers vault toilets, drinking water, and a campground host during operating season. The Salmon River, a designated Wild and Scenic River, attracts whitewater rafters in spring with challenging Class 3-5 rapids. Summer visitors enjoy swimming and river access within walking distance, while fall brings excellent salmon and steelhead trout fishing in the nearby Klamath River. The campground is located 2.3 miles from Highway 96 on Salmon River Road, about 2.5 miles from the small town of Somes Bar, where a general store provides propane, groceries, and tackle. Wildlife is abundant in the area, and proper food storage in bear-proof receptacles is required.

Directions

From Highway 96, take Salmon River Road/Forest Highway 93 for 2.3 miles to Oak Bottom Campground.
