North Tailwater Picnic Shelter
This is a day-use picnic shelter only. No overnight camping is allowed. Shelter occupancy is permitted until dusk. The shelter can be reserved through Recreation.gov or used free of charge when unreserved.

Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Knoxville, Melcher-Dallas, Bussey, Hamilton, Marysville and Knoxville Municipal Airport.
About
North Tailwater Picnic Shelter is a day-use facility situated on the north bank of the Des Moines River, just below Red Rock Dam. This is not a campground and overnight camping is explicitly prohibited. The shelter is available for day-use activities until dusk. The shelter provides 20 amp electrical service, picnic tables, an outdoor grill, and access to nearby flush toilets. The area offers scenic river views and access to boating, fishing, hiking, and biking. Wildlife viewing is popular here, with waterfowl including American White Pelicans migrating through in spring and fall, and bald eagles observable from November through March. The site is located approximately 10 minutes from Pella, known for its Dutch heritage, and 15 minutes from Knoxville. The 15-mile paved Volksweg Trail is accessible from the area.
Directions
From Pella, Iowa, take Highway T-15 southwest for 5 miles, then turn east on Idaho Drive to 198th Place. Travel south and follow signs to North Tailwater Recreation Area. Address: 1004 216th Place, Pella, IA 50219.
