About
North Sterling State Park sits on the eastern Colorado plains about 30 minutes north of Sterling, centered on a 3,000-acre warm-water reservoir renowned for wiper, walleye, catfish, and trout fishing. The park's 141 campsites are distributed across three distinct campgrounds: Elks Campground in the northern section with 50 spacious 30-amp electric sites, Inlet Grove Campground with electric hookups and direct reservoir access, and Chimney View Campground featuring large non-electric pull-through sites that can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 100 feet.
Chimney View Campground operates year-round, though water systems are winterized from October through April during which time vault restrooms replace the flush facilities. The other campgrounds operate seasonally. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with shared water spigots positioned every four to five sites. Two camper services buildings provide flush restrooms, coin-operated showers, and laundry facilities during the warmer months.
Beyond camping, the park offers a swim beach, 6.4 miles of multi-use trails, an archery range, shooting range, playground, and marina. Two dump stations serve the campgrounds. Reservations are required and can be made through cpwshop.com or by calling 1-800-244-5613 up to six months in advance.
